Why should I schedule a psychological evaluation?
Psychological tests help in accurately diagnosing mental health conditions. This ensures that individuals receive the appropriate treatment and interventions. Many mental health treatments first require a diagnosis given by a doctorate level evaluator.
Accurate diagnosis guides accurate treatment. Our psychological evaluations provide detailed information that assist therapists and doctors to provide informed treatment.
Some clients express they have felt “stupid, crazy, or lazy” however, an evaluation with us has proven otherwise. They received clarity on their challenges and validated on their belief that something was indeed amiss. Testing can help understand your symptoms and give specific direction and hope. This is the first step to getting help.

What can I expect if I schedule psychological testing with you?
First, you will experience an initial intake which will include clinical interviewing and gathering background information. Then you will have testing sessions which vary in length from 2-4 hours to complete the assessment battery. Some types of psychological evaluations are able to fill out computer measures at home while others are done in person. We will take breaks as needed and may have to do separate testing sessions on different days.
After the assessments are completed, we will spend a few days scoring, interpreting results, and writing the report. During this time we may do follow up phone calls to ensure accuracy or fill missing gaps. We strive to be very thorough.
Finally we will have a feedback session where we will thoroughly explain the results and diagnostic decisions and answer any questions you may have. This session typically lasts around 30-45 minutes. We include personalized recommendations and provide you with copies of the report. We help point your towards next steps for treatment, however we do not provide treatment.

How much do your sessions cost?
The prices for evaluation differ depending on the type of evaluation and length of time spent with the client and your insurance coverage. For those who prefer to pay cash, we also offer competitive cash prices. Please contact us for an updated cash price list. We accept debit card, credit card, and checks. You may also use a Health Savings Account (HSA) to cover expenses.
We are now accepting insurances for mental health testing done in person in Utah County. We are credentialed with Select Health, DMBA, U of U, EMI, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and PEHP. Your copay will be determined by your deductible and personal insurance coverage.
It is your responsibility to confirm coverage with your provider before scheduling an appointment. Many insurance carriers offer multiple plans, so it is important that you verify your benefits directly with your insurer. You will be charged the copay at the time of your appointment.
We can provide a discount for ecclesiastical leaders and can work with third parties to facilitate payment.

What are the differences between mental health professionals?
Mental health professionals can be categorized by their training, education, and choice of specialty. Dr. Lefrandt has degrees in both Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling Psychology. He is a licensed psychologist.
For further information on these distinctions, read through the information provided by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
-
Is what I share confidential?
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) requires mental health professionals to protect the personal health information of clients. There are some specific situations, however, in which the information of a client can be shared without their consent such as: 1) if there is suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, elderly, or disabled individuals, 2) if there is reason to suspect a client is in danger of harming themselves or someone else, or 3) if a valid court order requires the release of information.

What ages do you see?
We have been trained to be able to diagnose toddlers with autism as young as 2 years old. We see many clients ranging in age from children to adults for a variety of evaluations.
-
Do you have clients that travel to see you?
We have many clients who travel long distances seeking psychological evaluations from Dr. Lefrandt. Some make long drives or even travel from out of state. For example, we have had clients that have traveled from Samoa, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. In these instances, Dr. Lefrandt makes every effort to get all of the in person testing done as quickly as possible, so you can return home promptly. Please contact to discuss a plan that will work for you.
-
How long will it take to get my results?
Generally from your intake session to your feedback session the timeline is 2-4 weeks. This is due to the amount of time it takes to complete assessments, score and interpret, and write the report. Compared to other practices, this is a great turn-around time. In situations that involve a tight deadline, it is sometimes possible for us to expedite our process for additional fees. Please reach out to inquire.

I am seeking accommodations for a standardized test. Can you help me?
If you are taking a standardized test such as the ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, or MCAT, you will need a formal diagnosis by a licensed professional. You will also need a required form specific to each testing company and accommodations that the professional recommends. Such accommodations may include extra time and private testing rooms. We have helped many clients receive the accommodations they need to make these tests accessible.
